Meet Metta Theatre

This Christmas, we’re delighted to be working with the award-winning Metta Theatre on a brand new circus musical adaptation of The Little Prince.

Metta Theatre was founded in 2005 by writer and director P Burton-Morgan and designer William Reynolds. Since launching, they have produced over 40 productions and toured all over the country, with a strong focus on the development of new British musical theatre and a commitment to highlighting climate justice and sustainability, as well as celebrating all forms of diversity.

Over the years, they have become one of the UK’s leading midscale touring companies – known for combining emotionally powerful performances with imaginative theatricality and striking visual style.

Previous productions include their smash hit street dance adaptation of Jungle Book (Theatre Royal Windsor), circus musical Little Mermaid (Theatre by the Lake), and WGGB award-winning play In the Willows (Exeter Northcott). Like most touring companies, they turned to digital during the pandemic, releasing 5 cast recordings and producing 7 short films including Cells – which was released in partnership with Taunton Brewhouse.

In 2020, they launched Metta Green – an environmental sustainability consultancy providing bespoke, practical help for organisations and individuals to reduce their environmental impacts, as well as encouraging wider consciousness about the climate and ecological crisis.

In December 2021, they were set to present the world premiere of The Rhythmics – a brand new musical about an all-male rhythmic gymnastics ensemble – however, this was tragically cancelled due to COVID. The Little Prince is therefore their first full production since 2019 and they couldn’t be more excited to share this with audiences, young and old.

Metta Theatre’s Artistic Director, P Burton-Morgan, said: “We remain eternally grateful to Taunton Brewhouse for giving us this opportunity and for allowing us to do what we love best – creating extraordinary live performance. We hope that you enjoy the show, and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.”

The Little Prince runs at Taunton Brewhouse until 30 December. Book tickets here.
