In this special lino printing course, you’ll be inspired by architectural details, stone carvings, and wrought iron railings to create an appropriate design for printing.

Reduction lino printing is a relief printing technique which involves cutting and printing several layers of colour from the same block of lino to build up an image, destroying the block in the process.

Over 4 weeks, you’ll be given a series of demonstrations that will show you the key stages and principles of the technique, enabling you to plan and print your design, with support every step of the way. You will be using soft cut lino which is very easy to cut and print from and water based inks which are easy to clean up and dry quickly.

You will leave with a small edition of multi-colour prints and a great sense of achievement!

Please bring along pencils, eraser, ruler, sharpener, some of your own photos of architectural details, and an apron as printing does get a little messy.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADER:

The course is led by Lynne Mackay, an artist and secondary school art teacher for over 20 years. As a farmer’s daughter growing up on the Somerset Levels, she has always had a huge passion for natural beauty.

Lynne loves to capture treasured memories in pencil, acrylic, and watercolour painting, reduction lino printing, hand embroidered felt appliqué, and machine embroidery.
