Beyond Face Presents: A Night of Early-Stage Performance

BEYOND FACE presents an evening of early-stage live performance from global majority artists from across the region. Featuring short performances from some of the most exciting artists from the South West, expect new writing, spoken word, dance and much more. Come along and be among the first to watch and shape this work.

ALL ONE WAY

It’s the eve of her 30th birthday and Effie just wants to get home. Stranded at a train station, she starts to feel like it’s not only her train that’s delayed. Can Effie manage the ever-increasing social and societal pressures as well as her own expectations and anxieties of her fast-approaching next decade and make it home in one piece?

ISTWA A TWO LONG: A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

A piece by Latisha Cesar which honours the Haitian tradition of combining movement rhythm song and spiritual connection practices (meditation, prayer, breathing etc) to build a healthy self.

MICHELLE MEREDITH 

Michelle Meredith will bring her unique blend of stand-up comedy and holistic therapy to the stage. Prepare to meet the Cosmopolitan Seychellois.

SPLODGE

Presented by Beyond Face team members and associate artists Vicki Horan and Sonia Thakurdesai. SPLODGE invites audiences to enter a world of colour, chaos and motion as these two explore and unpack their identity and where they belong. It is for all mixed heritage kids and 2nd gen immigrants or anyone who’s ever felt like they don’t belong.

Beyond Face are now accepting proposals from South West-based global majority artists looking for a platform to share work in front of a live audience at the above event. They welcome your art whether it’s theatre, dance, spoken word, poetry, performance art, comedy or something multidisciplinary. Their only ask is that it is something which is performed live.
