Join the Handlebards for a riotous interpretation of Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night on bicycles!

Duke Orsino is in love with Lady Olivia, but she won’t have anything to do with suitors. Viola is shipwrecked and believes her twin brother Sebastian to be dead. Meanwhile, a bunch of Olivia’s servants plot to make a fool out of her pompous butler, Malvolio. There’s drunkenness, frivolity and cross-dressing a plenty.

This is an outdoor production in the fabulous atmospheric setting of Castle Gardens, so please bring a blanket to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather.

Access to Twelfth Night will be through the main gates of the museum, where you will be greeted by our team of friendly staff and volunteers. Gates open at 5pm, with the performance starting at 6pm.

Please note if you have a child under 10 with your group, you are entitled to one free ticket per individual paid standard ticket.

Where is Castle Gardens?

Castle Gardens is a magical outdoor wonderland that lies adjacent to the Museum of Somerset and The Castle Hotel. The site will be open from 5pm (one hour prior to the performance), so arrive with plenty of time to make yourself comfortable. Access to Twelfth Night will be through the main gates of the museum, where you will be greeted by our team of friendly staff and volunteers.

Food & Drink

You are welcome to bring a picnic with you – the site will be open an hour ahead of the performance for you to get comfortable and enjoy your meal. The Castle Hotel will be running a bar throughout the evening. The consumption of alcohol is permitted, but only if purchased from the licensed bar on site. We ask all patrons take care to dispose of their rubbish responsibly.

Safety & Comfort

Open-air productions are exposed to the elements, so please dress according to the weather. We discourage the use of umbrellas as they may obstruct the sightlines of other patrons, but would recommend waterproofs, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water as appropriate. Please bring blankets, cushions and picnic mats to sit on. Toilets will be provided by the Museum of Somerset.
