We are delighted to announce that we have successfully reached our £20,000 fundraising target, set for the end of June, securing the match funding required for the first phase of our ambitious Fit at 50 campaign.
Achieving this milestone will unlock £527,000 of funding from Arts Council England, enabling us to move forward with a series of essential upgrades designed to enhance the venue for audiences, artists, and the wider community.
Planned improvements include new automated doors to improve accessibility, replacement of the Main House carpet, and a comprehensive upgrade of our lighting systems in both the Main House and Studio, replacing ageing equipment with modern, energy-efficient LED fixtures.
The Fit at 50 campaign has been developed to ensure we remain a vibrant, welcoming, and sustainable cultural venue for future generations, especially as we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2027. Vickie Robbins, Executive Director, said:
“We are truly humbled by the support of our community and all of the donations that have achieved this milestone. We can’t wait to get the project up and running – which will hopefully be completed by August 2027.”
This first phase marks the beginning of a wider programme of investment in the building. Future projects will include roof repairs and maintenance, air conditioning improvements, and a range of additional enhancements designed to improve visitor comfort, accessibility, and the overall customer experience.
Anyone who would like to support the future of Taunton Brewhouse can still donate. Every contribution, large or small, will help us continue our programme of improvements, attract further external investment, and create a more accessible, sustainable and enjoyable venue for audiences, participants, and performers alike.
