Top Stars Share Career Insights in New Talk Series

March 3, 2025

This spring, we’re thrilled to welcome a stellar line-up of celebrated personalities to Taunton Brewhouse for a series of intimate ‘In Conversation’ events.

From culinary legends and comedy icons to sporting greats, these special evenings offer fans the chance to hear personal anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories from some of the most fascinating figures in their fields.

Kicking off the series on Tuesday 18 March, we have the honour of hosting renowned restaurateur, presenter, and novelist Dame Prue Leith for an exclusive evening discussing her extraordinary career. Best known as a judge on The Great British Bake Off, Prue has also been a business leader, educator, and award-winning author of cookbooks and novels.

Among her many accolades, she holds a DBE, 12 honorary degrees and fellowships from UK universities, and the prestigious Veuve Clicquot Businesswoman of the Year award. Her restaurant, Leith’s, even won a Michelin star. This is a rare opportunity to hear Prue reflect on her incredible journey through food, writing, television, and beyond.

Comedy fans are also in for a real treat as Joe Thomas, best known for playing the socially awkward Simon Cooper on The Inbetweeners, joins us on Wednesday 19 March to celebrate 16 years of the British sitcom. Joe will share insights into the show’s record-breaking success, along with his work on White Gold, Taskmaster, and The Great Celebrity Bake Off. Expect plenty of nostalgia and laughter, plus an audience Q&A and the chance to meet Joe after the show.

Later this month, on Wednesday 26 March, we’re excited to welcome snooker legend Jimmy “The Whirlwind” White for a special appearance, accompanied by renowned commentator John Virgo and 1997 World Champion Ken Doherty. With thrilling stories, live frames of snooker, and an exclusive trick shot masterclass, this show promises to be a must-see for fans of the sport. Plus, the audience will have the chance to put their own questions to these snooker greats.

On Thursday 3 April, football fans will have a rare opportunity to spend an evening with Sir Geoff Hurst, the England hat-trick hero from the 1966 World Cup. Now 83, Sir Geoff is embarking on what is likely to be his final tour, bringing fans an unmissable show filled with stories from his illustrious career with West Ham and England.

Interviewed by his long-time friend and agent Terry Baker, the evening will be packed with footballing nostalgia and amusing anecdotes. With 499 league and cup appearances for West Ham, 248 goals, and both an FA Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup to his name, Sir Geoff’s career is nothing short of legendary.

Finally, concluding the series on Thursday 15 May, we’ll be joined by Sir Ian Botham OBE and fellow cricket icon Graham Gooch for an evening of career reflections, candid insights, and sporting anecdotes. From unforgettable moments on the pitch to Sir Ian’s extensive charity work, this will be a spectacular celebration of one of cricket’s greatest all-rounders.
