Can you discover where Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger are hiding?
Shops, businesses, the Library and The Visitor’s Centre are all taking part in Taunton Brewhouse’s Wind in the Willows Town Trail by hiding characters from Wind in the Willows in their windows. The trail is linked to the Wind in the Willows Christmas production at Taunton Brewhouse this December (tickets on sale now!), and as well as promoting the show, is a way of encouraging visitors and residents of Taunton to stop and really look at window displays.
For anyone interested in following the trail, it is free and couldn’t be easier. From Monday 8 November you can pick up a map from the Brewhouse, the Visitor’s Centre, the Library or one of the 26 participating businesses, follow the trail around Taunton town centre and look carefully for Mole, Ratty, Toad and Badger in each window. There is only one character in each window and as wild animals are notoriously shy, they may be hiding! Jot down which character you find and where on the back of the map, and return to the Brewhouse Box Office (10am – 4pm Mon – Fri), or photograph your entry and send it to: [email protected]. All correct entries received will be put into a hat and the winners drawn on Monday 20 December. The first five picked will win a prize!
Victoria Patch, Communications and Development Manager at the Brewhouse said, ‘It’s been a tough year, particularly for independent businesses, and we thought it would be a good idea to encourage people to get out and about and look in the windows (and hopefully go in!) some of the wonderful retail outlets and cafes in Taunton. Some businesses are going all out and having a full Wind in the Willows window display, others simply hiding the characters in their existing display. Either way, we are delighted that so many are taking part. We are also having a mini competition to pick the best Wind in the Willows themed window display so write down which one you like best and email [email protected] or message us via social media @BrewhouseLive.
