Puppets, Pirates & Parties: Summer at Taunton Brewhouse

July 8, 2025

Taunton Brewhouse is the go-to destination for families this summer, with a jam-packed season of live shows, films, and workshops from July through September.

Things get glowing on 13 July with the Puppet Spectacular Glow Show, a magical UV puppet performance filled with music, colour, and laugh-out-loud characters. Perfect for ages 3 and up, this one-hour show promises a spellbinding start to the season.

Science fans can dive into discovery with Science Museum Live on 6 August – an exciting, high-energy stage show bursting with incredible experiments and explosive science, guaranteed to inspire curious minds of all ages.

Then, imagination takes centre stage in The Museum of Marvellous Things on 7 August, where giant puppets, toe-tapping songs, and a sprinkle of magic invite children into a world where creativity rules. Based on the bestselling book by Kristina Stephenson, this joyful show even includes a chance to make your own puppet.

Adventure calls in Fireman Sam Live: The Great Camping Adventure on 9 August, as Sam races to the rescue when a mountain trip goes wrong – expect action, teamwork, and plenty of excitement (and maybe even a red squirrel or two!).

Everyone’s favourite pup also returns on 13 & 14 August for Spot’s Birthday Party, an interactive celebration filled with catchy songs, dancing, Makaton signing, and a meet-and-greet with Spot himself – the perfect first theatre experience for little ones.

On 20 August, get ready for giggles with The Dinosaur That Pooped, followed by Tom Gates Epic Stage Show on 23 August, packed with music, doodles, and mischief from Liz Pichon’s bestselling books.

And on 16 & 17 September, join a hilarious crew of swashbuckling pirates in Pirates Love Underpants – a playful, puppetry-packed quest for the Pants of Gold, ideal for ages 1+.

There’s also a selection of family films on offer, and families can step into The Imaginarium – a playful, hands-on making space open in the Gallery every Tuesday and Thursday from 31 July to 28 August. Inspired by The Museum of Marvellous Things, this creative hub invites you to explore, build, and imagine together. Craft fairy and elf houses, design your own monster in a jar, or help bring magical moving landscapes to life.

It’s a relaxed and free-flowing space, with a friendly facilitator on hand to guide you. Entry is just £3 per child and £1 per adult (tickets available on the door).

A series of creative workshops will also run alongside The Imaginarium, offering fun for all ages in everything from iPad art and puppetry to crafting fabric flowers, early years dance, and musical storytelling.

Tickets for the summer holidays are now sale. Book online at tauntonbrewhouse.co.uk or contact the Box Office on 01823 283244 (open weekdays from 10am – 4pm).
