Our Summer Season is officially here!

May 2, 2024

Diaries at the ready! We have just announced a spectacular summer season filled with delightful family shows, magical outdoor productions, and plenty of famous faces.

With over 100 events from May to August, the season also includes world class comedians, acclaimed theatre shows, and some of the world’s greatest tributes. A string of event cinema screenings, blockbuster hits, art exhibitions, and creative workshops complete the lineup.

There will be endless laughs with internationally acclaimed comedians Ivo Graham (Taskmaster), Tom Davis (Wonka), Viggo Venn (Britain’s Got Talent), Gary Delaney (Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week), and Joe Pasquale (I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here).

Plus, the theatre’s popular Brewhaha Comedy Nights return, celebrating the very best of UK talent. Looking for comedy that’s fierce and fabulous? You won’t want to miss the hilarious comedy music show Girls Night Out with Flat and the Curves. Expect big voices and bold statements!

Summer is also the season for dance with two electrifying showcases. VERVE presents a bold programme of work including a powerful restaging of People used to die by acclaimed international collective (LA)HORDE, while Echoes blends personal reflections of Spain with the power of flamenco.

For those who enjoy their theatre al fresco, Four Forty Theatre return to Taunton’s Castle Gardens for a magical adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream/Twelfth Night. Two of the Bard’s greatest plays performed back to back in just forty minutes each. It’s the perfect opportunity to get together with friends, enjoy a picnic, and savour the last of the summer sun.

Making plans for the holidays? Families can enjoy their favourite stories live on stage with musical adaptations of Judith Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came to Tea and Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Zog and the Flying Doctors, plus jaw-dropping tricks from The High Jinx Show and Top Secret – The Magic of Science. Other highlights include Milkshake Live!, Pop Party, and Shark in the Park.

We also continue to attract the biggest stars of stage and screen. Sex Pistol’s frontman John Lydon – aka Johnny Rotten – sheds light on his unique and extraordinary career in his new spoken word show I Could Be Wrong, I Could Be Right, while That’ll be the Day’s Trevor Payne and Gary Anderson take their double act on tour, giving audiences a taste of life on the road.

Beloved broadcaster Fearne Cotton also takes to the stage in June to discuss her debut novel Scripted, and the ‘Godfather of Punk Poetry’ John Cooper Clarke brings an eclectic mix of classic verse, new material, and hilarious ponderings in his already sold out show.

And it just wouldn’t be summer without plenty of live music! Spanning folk, rock, jazz, and pop, the season offers a selection of musical delights. The Fureys make their eagerly awaited return with one of popular music’s richest legacies, Radio 2 broadcaster Clare Teal celebrates the greatest jazz hits of the 20th century, and two of the South West’s finest singer-songwriters, Jamie Yost and Taylor T, share their signature blend of thought provoking lyrics, pop melodies, and raw yet powerful vocals.

Looking to sing your heart out? Don’t miss The Johnny Cash Roadshow, Arrival – The Hits of ABBA, Frankie the Concert, ELO Again, and Tina’s Ultimate Rock Show.

For cultural enrichment, audiences can also catch the latest Exhibition on Screen and Royal Opera House screenings, or learn something new at the theatre’s many classes and workshops.

Vickie Robbins, Executive Director, comments: “The whole Brewhouse team are excited to bring you a summer season jam packed with music, laughs, family shows, and lots of workshops and classes.
