Let your imagination run wild at The Imaginarium – the new family play space running in our Gallery throughout August.
Inspired by Kristina Stephenson’s beloved children’s book The Museum of Marvellous Things, families are invited to bring moving landscapes to life, build magical elf and fairy houses, and create monsters in jars to display on our museum shelves.
This isn’t your typical structured workshop – it’s a relaxed, playful space where children and their grown-ups can explore and make together at their own pace. The Imaginarium will open its doors on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August, and tickets are available to purchase on the door for just £3 per child and £1 per accompanying adult.
Families can also take part in a series of creative workshops running alongside the play space. From crafting puppets and wall hangings to storytelling sessions for the early years, the season is bursting with playful experiences for all ages.
Little ones can enjoy musical fairy tales and a special summer edition of Tiny Dancers, while older children can dive into more hands-on activities such as printmaking, willow weaving, and graphic design. It’s also an exciting time for aspiring performers with a dedicated Youth Dance Day for children aged 7+ and an exciting Contemporary Dance taster session.
