Born with a degenerative hearing loss, and growing up outside of Deaf culture, Nathan faces hurdles in navigating this world of noisy chattering heads. Delving into the sanctuary of his own mind, he embarks on a quest to belong.
Absurd, satirical and sincere, Shush is new piece of writing exploring hearing loss and social identity; existing between worlds of the hearing and the Deaf whilst belonging to neither. Highlighting the silent, undefined connections that we all share, where the loudest actions are lost in translation, and the tiniest looks become deafening.
