In this hands on workshop, you’ll learn how to sew your own quilted or jacquard gilet, perfect for layering this autumn! In a warm and welcoming environment Ali will guide you step by step through working with quilted or jacquard fabrics, cutting and assembling garment pieces, and achieving clean, professional looking finishes.

You’ll learn how to take body measurements and choose the correct size, as well as how to bind edges neatly with bias binding, a versatile technique you can use across many projects. The workshop includes a gilet sewing pattern, so you can recreate the piece again at home.

This workshop is designed for confident beginners or those wanting to develop their sewing skills, basic sewing experience is required and a few simple projects under your belt is recommended.

Materials provided for this workshop include the use of a sewing machine if required, sewing tools, your own copy of the pattern to take home, a selection of bias binding and a label to add personalisation. You will need to bring 1.2m of double sided quilted fabric or a cotton jacquard of your choice, details will be sent in advance.

Class sizes are 4 – 6 participants, depending on the class, to ensure you all have the support and guidance that you deserve!
Note: You are encouraged to bring your own machine if you have one. Please check your machine is in good working order and that you have spare needles and bobbins. There are 4 machines available to borrow, supplied by Ali, so please choose to book one if you need it when you buy your ticket.

This is a whole day workshop so please bring along a packed lunch, tea and coffee are supplied.
