About Rambert Grades
Rambert Grades is a new benchmark in contemporary dance training and education, grounded in process and creativity that develops emergent talent.
This approach is inclusive and accessible to all, regardless of students’ ability and prior experience of formal dance training. By allowing each dancer to make choices and develop their own interpretation of movement, the Rambert Grades training is holistic, promotes transferable skills, and develops the whole individual.
Developed by a leading team of experts from Rambert with some of the most dynamic and relevant voices of contemporary dance in the UK – including material devised for the syllabus by Hofesh Shechter, Alesandra Seutien and Benoit Swan Pouffer.
The Rambert Grades syllabus focuses on:
Performance including original solo material from three leading choreographers
Technique to support the students’ dancing
Creativity to encourage self-development and a sense of self enterprise.
Please note exams in the grades are totally voluntary and you can attend and enjoy the classes without also taking the exams for the grades.
Rambert says:
‘We believe that our syllabus offers students the opportunity to develop lifelong skills. Rambert Grades encourages young people to own their individuality, be playful, work in a present manner, take risks, think independently, relate with others and have confidence in decision making while learning and embodying our three strands, Technique, Performance and Creative. Our trained teachers are taught to promote a safe environment where physical explorations can exist without rigidity yet with focus, discipline and collaboration. Students are seen as individuals and allowed to express their ideas and discover their voices through the wonders of Contemporary Dance.’
