Uncover the jigsaw method of lino printing to create easy multicolour prints.
The jigsaw method holds so many possibilities. It’s very economical and also doesn’t require any registration or ‘lining up’, so is an extremely straightforward and satisfying way of creating a multicoloured print. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to safely carve your design into a single piece of lino, before carefully cutting it into pieces and inking said pieces to create beautiful multi-colour prints.
All materials will be provided, including artist-quality inks and paper. Please bring your own drawings or images to work from. This workshop is perfect for beginners or those with some lino printing experience.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADER:
Alex Williams is a local artist and printmaker based in Wellington, Somerset. She makes bright and bold prints, paintings, and wall murals.
Alex loves colour and pattern and is inspired by richly decorated and historical ceramics, architecture, and bright florals, and often uses still life compositions in her work. Alex’s printmaking and drawing styles often consist of flat layers of bold colour which lends itself to using the jigsaw method to create prints.
