In this delightful pottery workshop, Deborah Sparks (The Thoughtful Potter) will teach you how to hand build your own vase from stoneware clay. She will provide a beautiful selection of flowers, leaves, and berries for you to experiment with – all picked from her garden and the hedgerows around her Somerset studio.

You’ll discover the joy of pressing them into clay, revealing the beautiful imprint and patterns in your work. You can add words too with a selection of letter stamps. Once your pieces are made you’ll be able to paint them with a wide choice of underglazes to create your very own unique pottery pieces. Deborah will then fire and glaze your vase, and when ready, you’ll be able to collect it and have a lovely keepsake of your day.

This pottery workshop is suitable for beginners or if you have some experience of clay.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADER:

Deborah runs an eco-friendly studio, each item of pottery is wrapped using recycled paper and card. She grows insect friendly wild flowers for wild life and to use in her pottery creating a cycle that is one with nature. It is important to Deborah to create beautiful pottery that will be treasured for ever and to leave as little impact as possible on this wonderful planet.
