The French phrase, en plein air, translates – in full or open air.  In art, this term is used to describe paintings and drawings created  in an outdoor environment.  Sketching in the great outdoors, in response to the environment, is an excellent way to develop and express your creativity.

Your tutor will guide you through all of the basics of plein air sketching, including great tips and techniques, which will ensure your observational sketches communicate your ideas with confidence, in the style you envision.  Over time, your sketches may also provide you with a treasure trove of reference for future works of art.

Sketching En Plein Air is open to all adults over the age of sixteen, from beginners to improvers and for those interested in exploring a new, creative, fun and relaxing pastime.  We will meet inside the Brewhouse for an introduction, after which, we will move outside to sketch next to the beautiful River Tone.
