Join us for a relaxed and welcoming embroidery workshop, perfect for complete beginners and anyone curious to try their hand at stitching. You’ll design and create a small hand-embroidered motif, which will later be mounted in a beautiful silver-plated or bronze pendant.
All the stitches will be clearly demonstrated—none are too tricky, and you’ll be surprised at how professional your finished piece will look! Choose from a lovely selection of silks, cottons, and linen as the base for your embroidery and enjoy experimenting with different colours and textures.
Workshop leader Beth will take your finished embroidery home to carefully mount it onto the pendant and post it back to you. All materials, the finishing service, and postage are included in the workshop fee.
About the workshop leader:
Beth Philpot is a textile artist working from her home studio in the heart of mid Devon.
She uses a wide variety of techniques including embroidery, applique, fabric dying, beading and wirework to create one-off pieces of art and jewellery. Living in such a beautiful place she is spoilt for choice for inspiration – moor, coast, wild hedgerows, woodland, and a patch of wildflower meadow in her garden.
She trained and worked as a costume maker for theatre and film where she became particularly interested in embellishment, colour, and decorative work. A move back to the South West meant a change from costume work but provided plenty of inspiration and allowed her to combine her love of textiles and the natural world.
