Join Helen McComick for a fun and creative session where you will learn how to make beautiful garden ornaments inspired by nature’s seed pods. She will guide you through the pottery-making process, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. Whether you’re a beginner or have experience with pottery, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their artistic side.

During the morning you will learn how to create your beautiful ornaments using traditional hand-building techniques. You will make 3 in total. In the afternoon you will learn how to apply glaze to your work. This process is called raw glazing, which means your work will only need to be fired once in the kiln, which reduces electricity use and helps the environment.

All materials and equipment will be provided, including 3 metal rods of varying heights. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or wear old clothes and trim any long nails. After the workshop, Helen will carefully take your ornaments home and fire them in her kiln. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection from the Brewhouse approximately 6 weeks after the workshop finishes, depending on how quickly the clay dries out. We will let you know the time and date.

Please feel free to bring along a packed lunch to enjoy in your lunch break, tea and coffee will be available in the workshop room.
